[At Last, This Weekend] Surely Nobody's Going to EDC Japan 2019 Just to See the Biggest EDM Names? [It's Already Reiwa]

The Reiwa countdown frenzy is over, and before we knew it, EDC Japan 2019 is just this weekend.

My flight to Tokyo happens to be the night before, so I'm thinking of going on Saturday, May 11.

So here's my rundown of the highlights of the fast-approaching EDC Japan 2019, with plenty of personal opinion.

Official Trailers

I'm sharing two, but keep your eye on the first one, lol.

Lineup by Day

NEON GARDEN Is the One to Watch

The global trend is now entirely TechHouse, Techno, House, and Deep House, so EDC Japan 2019 has booked some really good DJs, even if they're low-key.

And if you saw the small number of acts as a negative, then to put it mildly, you don't really get what this genre is about, lol.

“Fewer acts = longer sets,” which means each act actually gets more room to show what it can do!

Acts to Watch

PEGGY GOU (5/12)

PEGGY is the act of the moment, racing straight down the road to stardom. Starry Night is tearing along at the top of Beatport's overall chart.

WAFF (5/12)

WAFF is another act of the moment, in hot demand at Tech House festivals around the world, starting with Elrow.

BONTAN (5/11)

BONTAN has released plenty of tracks on prestigious labels such as Hot Creations, Crosstown, Circus, and 2020 visions.

To be honest, BONTAN on his own isn't that big a draw, but his partner is none other than Josh Butler, lol.

I'll be waiting, trembling with anticipation, for the moment they drop “Call You Back,” a masterpiece likely to go down in Deep House history.

JOSH WINK (5/11)

JOSH WINK, a veteran who has played in Japan many times, is another one you can't miss.

I'd love for lots of people to experience his sound and vibe, the polar opposite of short, hyped-up Big Room sets.

I'll Say It Again: Go Hear New Sounds, Not Just Your Favorites!

The great thing about festivals is stumbling onto new sounds, not just the acts you came for.

Many people think in all-or-nothing terms and show no interest in, or won't even try, acts they don't already know. Such a waste…

And even when they do discover new sounds, sticking with their group often means they can't stay long.

Going to a festival only to bind yourself to the rules of moving as a group? Let's not, lol.

Go precisely because there are many unfamiliar acts on the lineup.

Take that approach, and I think you'll enjoy it even more.

It affects your lifeblood: creativity.

Ticket Resale Sites for Cheaper Festival Tickets

For Ultra Japan, EDC JAPAN, and other popular festivals, one option for buying cheaper tickets is to use resale sites.

I introduce recommended sites in the article below, so check it out if it helps.
