A report on Day 4 (October 21), toward the end of ADE.

During the day I went to the outdoor techno event “Dockyard Daytime Festival ADE 2017,” and at night to the trance event “Quest4Trance & Solarstone presents Pure Trance ADE 2017.”

ADE Day 4 Begins!

Dockyard Daytime Festival ADE 2017

This was my first and last outdoor event during ADE.

Sven Vath's Cocoon, Paco Osuna's Mindshake, Ben Sims, Oscar Mulero's Pole Group, Paco Osuna's Mindshake, Ben Sims, Ben Sims's Machine, a whole array of stages from prestigious techno events. Naturally, even at this event alone it was impossible to cover all the acts I wanted to see.

What's more, the event actually runs for 12 hours, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., haha.

The venue was in the Westpoort district, away from central Amsterdam. This time I took a train to Sloterdijk station and used the dedicated shuttle bus (€5) leaving nearby.

It's impressive that public signage (probably) directs people to the event shuttle bus.

Inside the shuttle, loud techno and house played throughout, with lasers and a mirror ball too.

And, thoughtfully, smoke was released at intervals.

I love this thorough commitment to entertaining people.

After about 15 minutes on the bus, I arrived at the venue.

I couldn't watch everything in depth, but Machine's Shifted played a very cool set.

Personally, I don't know much about DJs from Pole Group or Machine, so I thought I'd research them.

Westpoort is the Netherlands' largest industrial area and apparently a redevelopment district.

Its somewhat decadent atmosphere matched techno extremely well.

Still, it's impressive how they turn all sorts of places that aren't clubs into event venues.

In Japan, a thorough environmental assessment inevitably becomes necessary, and I couldn't help feeling the difference in dance music history.

Quest4Trance & Solarstone presents Pure Trance ADE 2017

Now, my final trance event during ADE.

It was organized by Solar Stone, a familiar name to longtime trance fans through the keyword Pure Trance.

The performers were Gai Barone, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Robert Nickson, Bryan Kearney, John O’Callaghan, an impeccable lineup.

The atmosphere at trance events really is warm.

Incidentally, I was there for John O’Callaghan and Bryan Kearney, but my physical stamina truly reached its limit and I left shortly after John O’Callaghan began (John O’Callaghan started at 3 a.m., Bryan Kearney at 5 a.m.).

That was pretty frustrating... (wry smile)

Additional Information

I bought my Dockyard ticket on Dockyard (official website) for €47.50 (including the €5 shuttle bus ticket).

*If seats are available, the Dockyard shuttle bus also lets you pay cash to board (whether credit cards are accepted is unknown).

I bought my Quest4Trance ticket on Quest4Trance (official website) for €25.

*The Quest4Trance venue (Postillion Convention Centre Amsterdam, Kauwgomballenfabriek, KBF complex) was very hard to find—or rather, its entrance was. Toilets also charge (you buy a token; I think it was around ¥600).

Take care if you attend events at this venue in future.
