This is pretty bad… We are in a new era, 2020, after all.
A lineup that says, “These names are safe choices for a big Japanese festival, right?”
It would have worked perfectly well four or five years ago, but surely everyone is tired of it by now, haha.
The lineup still to be announced will probably be similarly careless and lacking subtlety.
At this rate, it is no different in level from the scenes in Malaysia or Thailand, haha.
Well, I Suppose That's Fine
Even if I grumble about how underwhelming it is, if plenty of people think the lineup and festival are fantastic, that is enough.
I will not be going, though, haha.
Everyone has limited disposable time and income, so whether it is worth it is everything.
In the domestic scene, I sometimes see arguments like “It is enough that a festival happens and international artists come” or “Putting on an event is hard,” mostly on Twitter—along the lines of doing something having more value than doing nothing.
I understand that sentiment very well, but it does not legitimately make up for weak content.
Audience growth and commercial viability show the level of a scene.
In that sense,

Techno and House Are the Main Genres in 2020
I have been saying this consistently since around 2017.
The veteran DJs below have been even more energetic lately.
